Verasight partners with CNN and SSRS on Weekly Election Polls

Verasight has partnered with CNN, SSRS, and researchers from Georgetown University and the University of Michigan  to conduct The 2024 Breakthrough Poll, which involves weekly surveys throughout the 2024 election season. Jennifer Agiesta, Director of Polling and Election Analytics at CNN and past president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, is leading the effort.

The project began on June 21, just before CNN’s Presidential Debate, and will run through the Sunday after Election Day. Interviews are conducted from Friday through Monday each week among a nationwide sample of approximately 1,000 adults per week via Verasight’s verified panel and the SSRS Opinion Panel Omnibus survey.

Verasight provides 700 nationally representative respondents each week. Survey takers are asked, “What, if anything, have you heard, read or seen in the past few days about Donald Trump? Respondents are also asked the same question about Kamala Harris, Joseph Biden, and Robert Kennedy, Jr.” The order of the questions is randomized. The survey stopped asking about Biden one week after he dropped out of the race.

Through the first seven weeks of the survey, Verasight respondents have offered more than 135,000 words in response to these questions, offering the most nuanced picture to date of what the American public is hearing about the candidates.
