We asked respondents to make their 2024 predictions. All respondents were recruited from our verified and nationally-representative panel.

What do Americans think the economy will look like in a year?

Individuals with higher incomes are more optimistic about the country's expected economic condition in 2024 compared to those with lower incomes who might be suffering from the  increased cost of living. In addition, Democrats and those leaning Democratic express more positivity about next year’s economic outlook, with 46% saying that they believe the economy will be better this time next year, compared to only 18% of Independents and 24% of Republicans.

Do Americans expect the stock market to rise in 2024?

When it comes to the stock market, the data reveals distinct differences in stock market expectations based on political affiliation. Democrats and individuals leaning Democratic display a more optimistic outlook, with 47% anticipating an increase. Meanwhile, Republicans and those leaning Republican are more divided, with a significant 38% expecting some form of decline compared to 31% expecting growth.

Which major companies do Americans expect to outperform in 2024?

We also asked respondents to  anticipate growth trajectories of various companies in 2024. Amazon emerges as the standout, with a striking 65% of respondents expecting it to outpace most companies in growth. Google follows closely behind with 59% foreseeing accelerated growth. On the other end of the spectrum, Bud Light faces notable skepticism, with 43% believing it will experience slower growth compared to other companies. Similarly, Twitter/X and Disney are perceived as potential laggards, with 39% and 40% respectively expecting slower growth trajectories.
