The Verasight team was excited to attend Quirk’s in New York City in July. Verasight CEO and co-founder, Ben Leff, took the stage to speak on how mis-measuring demographic variables could be the next data and replication crisis. Ben’s presentation showed how demographic profile variables provided by data companies–including race of respondent–are often inaccurate and how certain industry standards create incentives for respondents to misrepresent their demographics in survey responses. He then showed how Verasight’s approach avoids these problems and offered suggestions to all practitioners.
Verasight also offered every Quirk’s attendee the opportunity to include a free survey question on an upcoming nationally representative Verasight survey. We fielded the survey after the conference and provided everyone who submitted a question with Verasight’s automated topline and crosstab report as well as the individual-level raw data with verified demographic variables and survey weights.
Our business was built by researchers, for researchers, and we love giving free data back to the research community. To further support researchers, we archive all non-proprietary data with the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. Check out our data here! You can read about other free conference surveys we have conducted here.
We also offered a giveaway prize to a lucky Quirk’s attendee who came by the booth. Congratulations to Catherine Lin from Western Governors University!
